Visegrad strengthens the Czech say in the EU, but V4 countries have a reputation of being troublemakers, says an influential Brussels journalist
Source: Český rozhlas (CZ) - The Czech Republic and other Visegrad Four countries commemorated the 30th anniversary of the V4 formation. Its original goal - the accession of countries to the EU and NATO - has been fulfilled. "The functioning of the 27 states within the European Union is based on building alliances. A high-ranking Hungarian diplomat once shared an interesting insight with me: 'If you stay alone with your position, it means you are doing something wrong.' That is why I consider cooperation efforts important," said Eszter Zalan, a journalist at the influential Brussels-based EUobserver, rejecting the view that the V4 is an outdated model of cooperation.
